Home for the Holidays Adopt-a-thon

The partners of Maddie’s Pet Rescue Project of Alachua County are thrilled to announce that our next adopt-a-thon will be held on the Oaks Mall South Lawn, behind Macy’s on December 1st and 2nd.

The Maddie’s Partners will be bringing many lovable, adoptable pets for our community to choose from. Dogs, cats, kittens and puppies of every breed, size, and color will be available to the best homes!

The event is sponsored by Maddie’s Pet Rescue Project of Alachua County and its six partners; Alachua County Humane Society (Lead Agency), Alachua County Animal Services, Puppy Hill Farms Pet Rescue, Helping Hands Pet Rescue, Haile’s Angels Pet Rescue, and Gainesville Pet Rescue.

Maddie’s Pet Rescue Project of Alachua County is a community collaboration of pet rescue organizations throughout Alachua County who are devoted to finding homes for homeless dogs and cats in Alachua County. The project is working to end the euthanasia of healthy, adoptable pets by 2007. Every adoption counts!!

Maddie’s Fund, The Pet Rescue Foundation, is a family foundation funded by PeopleSoft Founder Dave Duffield and his wife, Cheryl to help establish a no kill nation. The first step is to help develop programs that guarantee loving homes for shelter dogs and cats throughout the country. The next step will be to save the sick pets in animal shelters nationwide. Maddie’s Fund is named after the family’s beloved Schnauzer who passed away in 1997.

Thank you for helping make our Lucky Pets Adopt-a-thon 2007 An Amazing Success!

The partners of Maddie’s Pet Rescue Project of Alachua County are thrilled to announce that the Lucky Pets Adopt-a-thon 2007, held behind the Oaks Mall March 24th & 25th, was a huge success! Over the course of the weekend, we were able to find wonderful forever homes for 133 pets! This success would not have been possible without the help of all of our amazing volunteers. The Maddie’s partners would like to thank everyone who came out and contributed to the success of this event.

In addition to recognizing the many wonderful individuals who came out to volunteer their time and energy to help the homeless animals in Alachua County, the Maddie’s partners would like to thank several student organizations from the University of Florida for lending their support: the ladies and gentleman of the Florida Cicerones and the ladies and gentlemen of Alpha Epsilon Delta. Again, thank you to all of our wonderful volunteers! We could not achieve these outstanding results without your help!

The Maddie’s partners would also like to thank Coleen Cox, from Merial- the maker of Heartgard and Frontline, who supplied all of our adopted animals with starter bags filled to the brim with tons of goodies!

If you are interested in volunteering for the next adopt-a-thon, please download and submit a volunteer application. Applications can be found under the “Volunteers” link. The adopt-a-thons are sponsored by Maddie’s Pet Rescue Project of Alachua County and its six partners; Alachua County Humane Society (Lead Agency), Alachua County Animal Services, Puppy Hill Farms Pet Rescue, Helping Hands Pet Rescue, Haile’s Angels Pet Rescue, and Gainesville Pet Rescue.

If you are interested in becoming a corporate sponsor for future adopt-a-thons, please contact Chase Wiley at the Alachua County Humane Society.

We would like to thank the Oaks Mall for generously providing the space for our adopt-a-thons free of charge.
